MARC was established in Manchester University in 2006. The Centre is developing a research agenda that aims at critically understanding the co-evolution of design and development strategies and socio-economic processes shaping cities.

Our Research

Our Research on Architecture and Cities has three key aims:
1) Unpacking design 2) Following design 3) Engaging design.

Postgraduate Training

Students participate in our graduate studies programme and benefit from involvement in research activities of MARC. Our postgraduate training programme is intrinsically interdisciplinary and is open to students with an interest in any aspect of architectural research.

MARC has a staff of academics and researchers with different disciplinary backgrounds: psychology, sociology, geography, political sciences, architecture and philosophy.
