Postgraduate

GURC staff teach on relevant Postgraduate Courses relating to urban development. These are offered by Planning and Landscape and by the Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM) within the School for Environment and Development (SED). Both offer PhD training and taught Master courses. Postgraduates working in relevant themes relating to our research agenda can become associated members of GURC.

MSc in Global Urban Development and Planning

This Masters programme offered by the Global Urban Research Centre (GURC) aims to provide students with an understanding of cutting edge conceptual and operational debates in global urban development theory and practice, and to equip them with specialist skills to identify sustainable urban development planning solutions in specific contexts. Directed by Caroline Moser and Alfredo Stein, the course brings together a team which draws on expertise from GURC staff, as well as from the Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM) and the Planning, Geography and Architecture disciplines of the School of Environment and Development (SED).

The course will be of particular interest to planners, architects, social development specialists working in the voluntary, private or public sectors and others wishing to improve their understanding of urban development planning in cities of the South, as well as development professionals wishing to acquire new expertise, and those interested in a career in urban development planning. We particularly welcome applications from students from the global South, including Latin American, Asian, and African countries. We are able to offer some financial assistance to outstanding candidates.
