  • GURC Annual Lecture 2012, Manchester, 14 March, 3pm
    Professor Susan Parnell (University of Capetown and Leverhulme Visiting Professor, UCL) presents (re)theorising cities from the global south. See the event poster (PDF, 143KB) and the news and events section for further details. All welcome, no registration necessary.
  • Caroline Moser and Alfredo Stein present their research to the Nordic Development Fund, 7 March
    The presentation focussed on the results of two recent study projects on assets and adaptation and was followed by a roundtable discussion. For further details see the news and events section, and the Nordic Development Fund website.
  • Melanie Lombard awarded
    GURC researcher Dr Melanie Lombard has been awarded the Iberoamerican Sustainable Housing Thesis Prize, run by Mexican housing agency INFONAVIT and the Mexico State Autonomous University, for her PhD thesis 'Making a place in the city: Place-making in urban informal settlements in Mexico'.

Established in 2007, GURC is a research centre that focuses on critical urban transformations, to inform urban development debates and influence policy and practice.

The centre has a multidisciplinary staff including academics and research-focused practitioners.
