Conference Themes
This conference will approach critically the intersection of cosmopolitanism and international development through two themes:
- Critiquing the assumed cosmopolitanism of international development theory and practice.
- Investigating the ways in which taking more nuanced cosmopolitan perspectives can illuminate development theory and practice, and reciprocally, how taking a developmental perspective can inform a critical cosmopolitanism.
Issues that will be discussed include: Cosmopolitanism as an ethical disposition, Cosmopolitanism and global governance, Travelling parochialism, Cosmopolitanism in place, Non-elite cosmopolitanisms.
