2007-10 Resilient Design -RE-DESIGN- for counter-terrorism: Decision support for designing effective and acceptable resilient places. The research is funded jointly by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the Economic and Social Research Council, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure.

2009 Spatial Evidence Study for the NWDA. Cecilia Wong and Alasdair Rae are the main authors of this study establishing the spatial patterns of economic performance in the North West regioni.

2007-09 Stakeholder Involvement in the North West Regional Spatial Strategy. Mark Baker and Graeme Sherriff have completed a study of stakeholder participation in the North West Regional Spatial Strategy.

2007-08 (with University of Sheffield) Measuring Spatial Planning Outcomes: Conceptual and Methodological Challenges. This project is sponsored by Communities and Local Government, in conjunction with the Royal Town Planning Institute.

2008 Skills and knowledge for sustainable communities (with Universities of Warwick and Strathclyde). This project is led by Cecilia wong and is a collaboration between the The Economic and Social Research Council and The Academy for Sustainable Communities.
