Bursaries for the MSc in Global Urban Development and Planning programme
The Global Urban Research Centre (GURC) is offering 1 £5,850 bursary for outstanding candidates taking the MSc in Global Urban Development and Planning programme.
The awards are for full time study commencing in September 2011. The award will be paid in three equal instalments (Sept, Jan, March). Continuation of the award is subject to satisfactory progress on the MSc.
Eligibility for the award is as follows:
1. Applicants must be liable for overseas fees
2. Applicants must hold or achieve a UK second class honours, upper division or above, or its International equivalent, in their Bachelor's degree.
3. Applicants whose first language is not English should meet the following language requirements:
- an IELTS Test score of 7.0 or more overall with a minimum writing score of 7
- or a TOEFL Test (Paper-based) score of 600 or more with a minimum score in Test of Written English of 5
- or a TOEFL Test (Computer-based) score of 250 or more with a minimum essay rating of 5
- or a TOEFL Test (Internet based) score of 100 or more with a minimum writing score of 25
- an NCUK PMP EAP Grade A
4. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover the remaining tuition fee and living costs for the duration of the programme. The University's guide to the estimated cost of a Master's programme can be viewed at the following link: Cost of living guide.
Application process

- CV detailing academic and professional experience (no more than two sides of A4)
- 500 word personal statement outlining any professional or personal experience relevant to the programme of study
- Details of how the remaining tuition fee and living expenses will be covered for the duration of the programme. Applicants who are unable to provide this with their bursary application will not be considered for the award.

Applicants will be reviewed according to the following criteria:
- Academic achievement
- English language ability
- Professional development related work experience
- Future career aspirations and progression
The deadline for applications for Master's Bursaries is Friday 1st July 2011.
