Being a Doctoral Student

Supervisors and Supervision

Every doctoral student has two members of staff allocated to supervise the research and preparation of their thesis. The role of supervisors is critical to the success and learning process for the student. It is important for the student to take on the initiative in organising to meet supervisors regularly and in working out a strategy to get the most out of meetings as possible. As part of the new School of Environment and Development (SED) we encourage cross-supervisions with staff outside IDPM where this is in a student's best interests.
