State formation and state-building processes, social theories, histories of development, colonial history, conflict and reconstruction, political economy, education.

Oct 2010 - ongoing: Feasability study on research and teaching in Islamic Studies, funded by the Faculty of Humanities, the University of Manchester

Aug - Dec 2010: Exploratory research on healthcare provision in Gulu, Uganda for Professor Redmond, Dean at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, funded by UK-MED.

Feb - Dec 2010: Research for an annotated bibliography on Social Contract approaches in development, responsible to Dr Sam Hickey, funded by the Chonic Poverty Research Centre.
