NGOs, Citizenship and State Formation in Uganda: The Politics of Responding to HIV/AIDS.
This research examines the impact of public service delivery on the capacity of the state and citizens to interact with each other. Through the case study of Uganda’s leading HIV/AIDs service providing NGO known as TASO, the study also appraises the prospects of such development agencies in influencing how citizens and states see each other in developing countries.
Supervisors: Dr. Sam Hickey and Dr. Admos Chimhowu.
Research interests
The politics of NGOs in development, state society relations, and social policies.
I am an aspiring development practitioner with already accumulated experience in planning and implementing HIV/AIDS impact-mitigation programmes. Most of my field experience is based on my work with the AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) and several other development oriented NGOs operating in various parts of Uganda. I also have experience in using mixed research approaches and associated computer software packages such as NVIVO.
