New Professorial appointment
The School of Environment and Development at Manchester University is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Erik Swyngedouw. Erik Swyngedouw has an international, cross-disciplinary reputation for his research on the political economy of governance, geographical scale and nature. Erik will join the Geography discipline area in the School and will be a key member of two linked research groups: namely the Society and Environment Research group comprising, among others, Professor Tony Bebbington, Dr. Gavin Bridge, Professor Noel Castree, Dr. Dan Brockington, Dr. Gavin Hilson, Dr. Jessica Budds, Dr. Lindsay Stringer; and the Geographical Political Economy research group, comprising Drs. Kevin Ward, Neil Coe, Martin Hess, as well as Bridge and Castree.
Erik Swyngedouw is the first of two new professorial appointments in Geography at Manchester. A second chair will be occupied later this year in the area of space, culture and identity.
