Postgraduate studies in Geography
As a student in the School of Environment and Development and the University of Manchester, you are part of a broader academic community comprising undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers, many of whom are international students.
SED welcomes students from all over the world, including from North and Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe (including, of course, the UK). Our teaching uses examples drawn from many countries. The UK is a major source of case material, but that material is offered to students as a living example rather than a model, one to be placed alongside and compared with the experience of other countries.
Many of our academic staff have worked and researched both in the UK and overseas, and that experience feeds into our teaching. All of this contributes to enabling our international students to apply what they have learnt here in their own countries when they return.
