Supervisors: James Evans and Mark Jayne.
Research interests
- Sustainability practices and green living
- Play and playfulness
- Experimentation and creativity in cities
- The urban experience
My project asks how personal engagements in environmental efforts for the sustainable city can be promoted in creative ways. It explores the role of play as a potential driver for such engagements, understanding playfulness as an important and ubiquitous part of both personal practice and the wider urban experience. Based on the literature of extended experimentation and insurgent spaces, the research investigates experimental green initiatives and alternative living projects with the aim of conceptualising play as a wider approach to sustainable urban imaginations and practices.
