Architecture undergraduate
Undergraduate study in Architecture at Manchester takes place at the Manchester School of Architecture (MSA).
The MSA was formed in 1996, as an innovative collaboration between the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. The school draws on extensive teaching and research expertise within both institutions, and our students are in a unique position, able to make use of the facilities of two Universities.
Qualifying as an architect usually requires seven years of study combined with professional experience, i.e. mix of degree courses, working in practice and professional exams. This involves completing courses approved by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the professional body of architecture in the UK.
Our degree courses (BA and BArch) are validated by the RIBA and therefore provide exemption from the first two of the three stages you need to complete before becoming an architect
