EcoCities is managed by the University of Manchester and funded by Bruntwood and the Oglesby Charitable Trust. The initiative draws on expertise from across the University of Manchester, particularly Manchester Architecture Research Centre (MARC), Centre for Urban and Regional Ecology (CURE) and Brooks World Poverty Institute (BWPI).
