The Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) is one of the top architecture schools in the UK, and offers you all the university-based training you need to become a fully qualified architect.
Our BA and BArch degree courses are validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and therefore provide exemption from the first two of the three stages you need to complete before becoming an architect.
The MSA is a joint school between the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University: as an MSA student, you are therefore registered at both universities, which gives you access to an unrivalled set of resources.

Our MA in Architecture and Urbanism is aimed at architects, urban designers, planners and urbanists wishing to gain the intellectual, theoretical and practical knowledge and skills essential to understanding and shaping the future city. The course draws upon a wide range of study to produce project based research within an interdisciplinary discourse.
Our PhD programme is intrinsically inter-disciplinary and is open to students with an interest in any aspect of architectural research including: sustainable urbanism, urban design and development, socio-technical systems (particularly related to sustainable energy technologies), places and place-making, ecological and landscape design and the conservation and management of historic environments. We also encourage proposals for research by design.

The Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) was formed in 1996, as an innovative collaboration between Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, and has an excellent reputation for undergraduate teaching.
Architectural research at the University of Manchester is intrinsically inter-disciplinary and encompasses urban design, urban development, ecological and landscape design and the conservation and management of historic environments.
Our research is carried out mainly within the recently-established Manchester Architecture Research Centre (MARC), created in 2004 in coincidence with the establishment of the new University of Manchester in 2004.
The centre draws upon a wide range of interdisciplinary research and teaching interests within the School of Environment and Development and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Manchester and the Faculty of Art and Design at the neighbouring Manchester Metropolitan University (through the joint Manchester School of Architecture).
